This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how we use them, what types we use (and why), and how you can control your preferences. For more on how we handle personal information generally, see our Privacy Policy.
1) What are cookies (and similar technologies)?
- Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser.
- Pixels/web beacons are tiny images that let us or our partners understand usage.
- Local storage/SDKs are similar tools used by browsers and mobile apps.
Cookies can be:
- Session (deleted when you close your browser) or Persistent (stay until they expire or you delete them).
- First-party (set by us) or Third-party (set by someone else, e.g., analytics or advertising providers).
2) Why we use them
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Make the Site work (security, network management, fraud prevention, load balancing).
- Remember choices (e.g., cookie consent, forms you’ve submitted).
- Measure performance & improve the Site (analytics, debugging).
- Show and measure advertisements (only if you consent to non-essential cookies).
We do not use non-essential cookies unless you enable them via our banner or Cookie Settings controls.
3) Types of cookies we use
A. Strictly Necessary (cannot be turned off)
Needed for core functionality and security (e.g., page navigation, form submission, session management, bot protection like Google reCAPTCHA). These do not store information that directly identifies you.
B. Functional
Remember choices (e.g., region, language) and support features such as embedded maps, video players, or social sharing.
C. Analytics/Performance
Help us understand how visitors use the Site (e.g., pages viewed, time on page, links clicked) so we can improve. Examples include Google Analytics. Data is aggregated; we don’t use analytics to identify you directly.
D. Advertising/Targeting (only if enabled)
Used to deliver more relevant ads, limit repeats, and measure campaigns—this may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” under some state privacy laws. You can opt out at any time (see Section 5 and Section 7).
4) First-party vs. third-party cookies
- First-party: set by Tremaine to operate our Site.
- Third-party: set by service providers (e.g., analytics, video hosting, security) and, if enabled, advertising partners. Embedded content (e.g., YouTube/Vimeo) may set their own cookies when you interact with it.
5) Your choices: consent & controls
You can manage preferences any time:
If you block or delete cookies, the Site may not function properly.
6) Google Analytics, reCAPTCHA & embedded content
7) “Do Not Sell or Share” and Global Privacy Control (California)
We do not sell personal information for money. If we use advertising or cross-context behavioral cookies, those disclosures may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under California law.
- You can opt out via our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link (footer) and/or by turning off Advertising/Targeting cookies in Cookie Settings.
- We honor a browser-level Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out of sale/share where required.
8) Do Not Track
Some browsers send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to DNT, but we honor GPC signals as described above.
9) How long cookies last
Retention varies by cookie purpose. Session cookies expire when you close the browser; persistent cookies remain until their set expiration or you delete them. See our Cookie List (below) for typical durations.
10) Cookie list (examples)
The specific cookies in use can change over time. Your Cookie Settings panel shows the latest list. Below are common examples you may see on our Site depending on features enabled:
