Philadelphia House

TREMAINE completed testing and data recovery of an historic boarding house and saloon dating to the second half of the 19th century at J and 8th Streets. The original basement and first floor were identified 10-20 feet below street grade, built before the historic street raising effort of the 1860s and 70s. A rich assortment of white earthenware plates, bowls, cups, and serving pieces, barware, and butchered bone were recovered, along with items of a more personal nature belonging to the transient residents of this establishment.
