Tremaine, a principal of TREMAINE & ASSOCIATES, has twenty-five years experience in California
archaeology and has directed numerous projects involving compliance with
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and the Native American Graves Protection
and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). These projects include cultural resources
management plans, historic property treatment plans, feasibility studies,
initial inventories, testing for National Register and Californai Register
eligibility, and mitigation excavations. She has worked with a number of
State and Federal agencies including Caltrans, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service,
U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Army Corps of Engineers,
Bureau of Indian Affairs, Native American Heritage Commission, and the Office
of Historic Preservation. Much of her energies, the past several years, have
been devoted to the history and prehistory of Sacramento. She is currently
the PI for the Sutter Expansion Project and is finishing investigations for
the Sacramento City Hall site.
